MIXTAPE: Excursions by Mick Boogie - Rarities and Remixes of A Tribe Called Quest

I want to say that I think I'm missing out on "Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest." But in reality, I know that I'm missing out on this documentary about A Tribe Called Quest! One of the downsides to living abroad - can't get much legally. Maybe it will eventually come to iTunes where I can get that legal download.  Anyway, the doc's been making the rounds on the big screen in the U.S.

When you're in my position - feenin for that hip hop culture - you're both happy and lucky for the likes of dj extraordinaire @MickBoogie. Mick put together this crazy mix of Tribe tracks. Love that!

You don't have to check the rhyme hip hoppers, just check the link below for the FREE download. kfox.

‪REL - "On My Way"

Checked out this very short vid and loved it. The music is nice, but the video is very cool. Can't wait to see and hear the entire project.

Another pleasant surprise from the folks at Audible Treats.

So here it is hip hoppers - some inspiration. kfox.

WEFUNK - Show 649: Tribute to Gil Scott-Heron

WEFUNK - Show 649 - June 03, 2011

I've been a fan of WEFUNK Radio for years. The guys out of Montreal know how to string together some good music and then next thing you know you've lost two hours of your life - AND it's all good.

From the title of the show, you know that you're going to get a dose of funk, but they weave in lots of hip hop, rare grooves and (excuse me for the cliche) the dopest lyricists ever! The show is consistently solid and always introducing me to someone new.

Today's newness comes from d.i.t.c. (about 1 hour and 27 seconds into the show) Whoa!! Where have I been? Or where have they been? Loved hearing "Day One" from 2000. The hard and crafty rhymes just keep flowin. Love that.

But really the focus on Gil Scott-Heron on this show is killer. You have to hear it for yourself. Oh, and the Rakim interview clips about James Brown are so enlightening and very cool.

So hip hoppers, set aside two hours to get nothing done, but you'll be dancing your ass off and nodding your head. For real. kfox.

VIDEO: ‪Copywrite f/Jay Notes, Loudmouth Melvin and Skillit - PYT U.K Remix‬‏

Love it when unexpected goodness rolls into my inbox.

Saw this email and thought that it was a remix of MJ's "Pretty Young Thing" - it's not.

But I like the slow and mellow rockabilly feel of this track. The hook is on point and does what a hook should do - reel you in. There are enough voices on this joint too.

Get ready to nod your heads hip hoppers; it's that kinda party. kfox.
