This is How Music is Made

I know that not every artist can afford to get musicians to accompany them on their music. But that element of live musicianship is huge.

Check out this short vid from a Black Milk/Slum Village studio session w/Will Sessions (Detroit, do your thang).

Time for a rehearsal hip hoppers. kfox.

No Time for the Music

Just a bit on the busy side. Traveling and seeing the sites.

Unfortunately, my music consumption has slowed down a bit. I've been listening to some podcasts and my old favs, but no new joints.

So here's what I know is hot and needs to be dealt with:

Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings "I Learned the Hard Way"
Wu Tang Clan "Return of the Wu and Friends"
RJD2 "The Colossus"
Erykah Badu "New Amerykah Part Two Return of the Ankh"
Little Brother "Leftback"

What else am I missing out on hip hoppers? Show me the light. kfox.

Farewell to Guru

The hip hop world lost an innovator this week when Guru passed away.

Makes me reminiscence. Can't believe that it was '93 when Jazzmatazz, Vol. 1 came out. That was a nice time to twist rap on its head.

Check out these links for more about Guru:
Let's pay some respect hip hoppers. kfox.

VIDEO: Amir Sulaiman "Spit"

Amir Sulaiman's "Spit" video is an attention getter, and not just visually, but lyrically as well.

This movie-like video highlights drama and chaos and peacefulness too. Amir Sulaiman goes through some peaks and valleys and all the while he's showcasing his delivery skills.

I like this video for its purpose, the video quality and its diversity.

It's time to get down w/what's good hip hoppers. kfox.
